ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – A chilly morning on the Lewis Cross Country Course was the setting for the 2021 GLVC Cross Country Championships. Both UIndy men's and women's cross country teams finished fifth in the team standings, with
Claire Eaton and
AJ Goecker each earning All-GLVC honors with top-20 finishes.
The women's squad, who kicked off earlier at 11 a.m., was led by dominant performance by Eaton, who in her first ever GLVC Championships finished with a time of 21:56:61 to net sixth place, good for all-conference accolades. She would not be the only high finish for the women's team, with
Melissa Spencer putting together a solid day of her own crossing the line in 24th place with a time of 23:01:07.
The Hounds continued to stay together through the race with
Eline Pinter, who has been impressive all season for the Hounds, coming in at 30th. Just 10 seconds later, with a time of 23:25:80, Hanna Stein would wrap up her conference race in 36th place.
Mariah Judy (23:43.91) and
Hanna Stamm (23:47.41) finished back-to-back in 47th and 48th, respectively. To round out the top seven for the women's side,
Emma Treibic crossed in 51st.
On the men's side, Goecker had himself a quality day with a 15th-place finish in 24:51:87, solidiying his first career sub-25 8K and first career All-GLVC nod.
Will Reid was next to finish for the Hounds, coming in 40th with a time of 25:35:44.
Ben Nagel was not far behind finishing in 49th.
Similar to the women's team, the men's would have a pair of back-to-back finishes with
Jordan Parkinson and
Andrew Bixler finishing in 60th and 61st. In 68th and 70th was
Noah Kurtz and
Blake Ellis who both ran PRs in the 8K. Finally, freshman in
Hayden Baldwin stayed under the 27-minute mark with a time of 26:55:52 to earn him 91st.

Hannah Stein both were selected as 2021 GLVC Cross Country James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award Honorees.
