INDIANAPOLIS – In their first home match in 24 days, the University of Indianapolis rallied to force a fifth set, but ultimately fell to Rockhurst, 3-2, in GLVC action. The loss moves the Hounds to 11-13 on the year and 7-5 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams traded 25-20 victories in the first two sets. Rockhurst led 17-16 in the second but the Hounds scored nine of the next 12 points to grab the win. UIndy posted a .231 hitting percentage with 13 kills.
The Hawks took a 2-1 lead after a 25-17 victory in the third frame. The Hounds never trailed by more than three points until the Hawks' final 5-0 run.
UIndy posted a match-high 19 kills in the fourth set en route to a 25-20 win. Leading 21-20, the Hounds rattled off four straight points to seal the win and force a decisive fifth set. Grace Hegwood and Lauren Cullison both tallied kills in the run.
Rockhurst opened the fifth frame with four straight points and never looked back, recording a pair of 5-0 runs in the 15-6 win.
