SPRINGFIELD, MO – The University of Indianapolis volleyball team closed out their two-game road trip to Missouri with their second straight victory on Saturday afternoon, downing Drury 3-1 in GLVC action. The win moves the Hounds to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers took the first set 25-22 before the Hounds bounced back to take the next three. UIndy posted a hitting percentage of 0.333 in the second set, totaling 12 kills on 24 attacks.
UIndy trailed 9-7 in the second before four straight errors from the Panthers gave UIndy an 11-9 lead. Tied at 14, the Hounds rattled off five straight points to jump out to a 19-14 lead. Back from injury, Emma Jones tallied a kill to close out the 25-18 win.
Late in the third set, UIndy trailed 21-18 but they scored seven of the final nine points to edge out a 25-23 victory. Elizabeth Eads recorded three kills in the run while Grace Hegwood tallied two.
The Hounds controlled the final set after taking an 11-6 lead. Drury handed the 25-16 win to the Hounds late with their final four points coming on Panther errors.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Elizabeth Eads paced the Hounds with 18 kills while also adding three service aces.
- Hannah Huppenbauer notched 12 kills and 3 blocks.
- Alex Equihua dished out 37 assists.
- MaKenna Barnhart led the defense with 14 digs followed by Gillian Santana with 13.

The Hounds travel to nearby Hammond, IN next weekend for the 2021 Midwest Region Crossover at the Hammond Sportsplex & Community Center. The 38-team event will feature 57 games over Friday and Saturday. The full schedule will be announced following the completion of this weekends games across all three conferences.
