INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis volleyball team saw their win streak snapped on Friday night, falling to Illinois Springfield 3-0 in the regular season finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds trailed by three midway thru the opening set but rifled off four points to take a one-point advantage at 17-16. The two teams traded points from there until the Hounds eventually tied it at 21. Illinois Springfield closed out the set with a 4-1 run to take the 25-22 win.
UIndy utilized an 8-1 run to jump out to a 14-11 advantage in the second set. Lauren Cullison recorded a trio of kills in the run. The Stars halted UIndy's momentum with a 5-0 run of their own before closing out the set with seven straight points.
Late in the final set the Hounds trailed by four before back-to-back kills from
Emma Jones and
Grace Hegwood pulled them within two. Illinois Springfield led 23-19 before a quick 4-0 run for the Hounds.Â
Hannah Sabotin served up an ace while Hegwood and
Hannah Huppenbauer tallied back-to-back kills to even the score at 23. Illinois Springfield responded with two points to take the 25-23 win and three-set sweep.

CURTAIN CALL
Friday was senior night for defensive specialist Madi Rosenberger. The Centerville, IN native is majoring in accounting and plans to pursue a career as a staff accountant in the Indianapolis area while also pursuing her CPA.

Despite their regular season wrapping up tonight, the Hounds will be scoreboard watching on Saturday as the field for next weeks GLVC Championship tournament has yet to be finalized.
