Greyhounds Down Bearcats, Head to NCAA Second Round

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team defeated the McKendree Bearcats in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Thursday morning. The familiar score of 3-2 marked the second win over the Bearcats in program history, after defeating McKendree in the regular season with the same score.

DOWNING THE BEARCATS
Kiki Sauceda led the charge, striking first with a goal off a penalty kick early in the match. She then assisted an Elisabeth Kessler goal and secured the win by taking her own unassisted goal.

"We outplayed them in the first 45 minutes," noted Head Coach Holly Cox. "It's good to have a lead in half time,"

Sophia Saucerman made two saves in the 90 minutes in net, while the Greyhound back line held the Bearcats to only five shots on goal.

McKendree was able to score twice before the full time expired, with goals by Alli Frederking and Morgan Cervera. However, it was the Hounds who moved on to the next round.

"We need to do a better job of securing the victory and keeping the clean sheet," Cox added.
