INDIANAPOLIS - A chilly afternoon at Key Stadium didn't stop the top-seeded University of Indianapolis men's soccer team, who rolled past No. 8 seed Cedarville by a final of 3-1 in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It took the Greyhounds until just the 11th minute of play to strike first on the scoreboard.
Jakob David delivered a beautiful corner kick towards the net that met the head of
Makel Rasheed who positioned the ball past the goalkepeer for the 1-nil advantage.
Â
Minutes later, UIndy collected another goal in the 18th minute when
Alejandro Steinwascher floated a pass to
Seth Ward who gathered the ball and placed one into the back of the net.
Â
Taking the two goal advantage into the halftime locker room, the Greyhounds held strong before pulling in a third goal of the match. In the 76th minute, Steinwascher sent a ball backwards to
Dylan Bollard who fired a straight shot past a diving keeper. Cedarville would add a goal in the 86th minute, but it was not enough to stay in the match.
