Emma Jones had 16 kills and
Katie Furlong added 14 as the UIndy volleyball team (2-2, 2-2 GLVC) earned a 3-1 road win at McKendree Friday night. After dropping the first set to the Bearcats, 25-18, the Hounds took the next three one by one, earning their first road win of the season.
"This was a really important match for us," said head coach
Jason Reed. "They came together and figured out how to win."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Kyra Simmons made her debut back after being injured in the last season, with a .571 hitting percentage, she posted four kills for the Hounds and had one solo block and three block assists.
"It was nice to see the play of some new faces back in the lineup," said Reed. "Kyra did a nice job on the block and serving and gave us some great energy."
Defensively, UIndy had 71 total digs. Sophomore
MaKenna Barnhart led the Hounds with 17 and added two service aces.
Junior
Alex Equihua had 15 digs, as well as led the team with 33 assists and four block assists.
"I'm really proud of Alex," Reed said. "She's been an absolute warrior, and I'm pumped to see her back on the court."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Greyhounds posted 50 kills on 149 total attacks, good for a .181 attack percentage.
-McKendree had 13 service errors, the Hounds had only four.
-The Hounds had no ball-handling errors or block errors on the night.

UIndy returns home next week to host a tri-match with Maryville and Drury on Saturday, Feb. 20. The Hounds will face the Saints at 10 a.m. and the Panthers at 6 p.m., with the two visitors facing off in between,
