Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 2 University of Indianapolis men's soccer turned in solid performance on Friday against University of Illinois Springfield, but the Prairie Stars came into Key Stadium and hung on for a 0-0 draw, bringing UIndy to a 3-0-1 record on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds set a new season high in shots and shots on goal, and outshot UIS 30-3 and then had eight shots on goal.
"I was delighted that we delivered," said Head Coach John Higgins. "We've done a really good job of getting a clean sheet this season."
A chippy game arose from the two teams, totaling 33 fouls between the two. The Hounds had 18, while 15 on the Prairie Stars.
Freshman
Michael Tselios led the Hounds with five shots, two of which were on goal.
"I thought he (Tselios) had an incredible match," mentioned Higgins. "He did a lot of great play in the midfield."
The Prairie Star goalie Pijus Petkevicius had eight saves on the day.
Dimitrios Karousos earned two for the Hounds.
"Their keepers had some unbelieveable saves," added Higgins. "On another day, one of them (shots) goes in and we win pretty easy."
UP NEXT
UIndy will be back at home on Sunday, March 14 where they will face Quincy at 2:30 p.m. ET.
"We just have to keep playing similar to how we've been playing," Higgins said. "The message is to play how we did today on Sunday and hopefully we just get some shots in."
