#3 Hounds Net 28 Against Falcons

INDIANAPOLIS - After climbing up to the third spot in the recent IWLCA DII Rankings, the UIndy women's lacrosse team (4-0, 0-0 GLVC) took on the Notre Dame College Falcons (1-1, 0-0 MEC) for a home contest at Key Stadium on Saturday. The Greyhounds took the victory over the Falcons for their 28th-straight home win dating back to the to Feb. 17 in the 2018 season against Rockhurst. Lauryn Hardoy was the Hounds' top-scorer in both points and goals, notching a season-high six goals in the 28-2 win.

INS & OUTS
UIndy emerged on top early in the game, scoring the first three goals in the game's first four minutes. Grace Gunneson would contribute two goals during that timespan, the senior totaling four points in the contest in her three goals and one assist. Cassidy King tallied a trio of saves in her first-half performance in the goal for the Hounds, including one from a Notre Dame shot in the free position. Mackenzie Winn was able to run through the defense several times throughout the half, completing a hat trick with almost eight minutes left in the first. The Greyhounds would finish the first half with a whooping 16-goal lead, only allowing one score for the Falcons.

The second half would finish with nine different UIndy student-athletes scoring goals, the Hounds totaling 11 overall on offense. Amy Vegh competed in her first career game in style, coming off the bench in the second half to net three shots, all within the final 10 minutes of game time. The Greyhounds comboed another impressive offensive performance with a solid defensive stand against Notre Dame, Peyton Romig collected a team-high 14 draw controls and three ground balls. Kara Antonucci was another huge factor in the Hounds' wall against the Falcons, disrupting several sticks near the Falcons' goal for three caused turnovers in the contest.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Greyhounds' 28 goals are the most in a single game since their win over Ashland back on April 26 in the 2019 season.
- UIndy totaled a season high in both free position goals (five) and power play goals (four) against the Falcons.
- Saturday's win marks the first game this season the Greyhounds have totaled double-digit assists, racking up 12 overall.

UP NEXT
UIndy will take on their second ranked opponent next week, traveling north to take on No. 11 Grand Valley State. The midwest showdown will take place in Allendale, Mich., on March 20, kicking off at 1 p.m.
