LIBERTY, MO. – The #17 University of Indianapolis Women's Soccer team posted their fifth win of the season on Sunday, taking down William Jewell 1-0 on the road in GLVC action. UIndy improves to 5-1-1 on the season while William Jewell falls to 0-6-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds scored the lone goal of the game in the 27th minute off of a free kick. Dana Youssef took the free kick from midfield, sending a perfect ball just inside the penalty box. Kiki Sauceda escaped past a defender and headed the ball off the bounce, sending it past the goalkeeper who was coming out of the net.
UIndy put the pressure on in the first half, outshooting the Cardinals 8-2. To start the second half, the Hounds rifled out three shots in a two minute span but were unable to capitalize.
Sophia Saucerman picked up her third win of the season, shutting out the Cardinals and making four saves in the full 90 minutes.
Sauceda paced the Hounds with eight shots, three of which were on goal. Maria Herrero recorded five shots.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
This marks the fourth straight game and fifth overall that the Hounds have recorded at least 10 shots.
UP NEXT
The Hounds return home this week for a pair of GLVC matches. UIndy will host Rockhurst on Friday followed by Southwest Baptist on Sunday with both games being played at Key Stadium.
