Hounds Emerge Victorious in Top-15 Clash

INDIANAPOLIS - After being absent from the field for a month due to schedule changes, the No. 11 UIndy men's lacrosse team (2-0, 2-0 GLVC) competed against GLVC-rival No. 13 Rockhurst (3-1, 3-1 GLVC) at Key Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Wyatt Auyer jumped into his first career game starting and delivered against the Hawks, Auyer led the Hounds with five goals and six points in their 13-8 victory.

INS & OUTS
Rockhurst was able to get an early lead on the Greyhounds, Sam Lindahl scored in the games' first two minutes of action. The Hawks would only hold the lead for less than four minutes, as UIndy went to rattle off four unanswered goals by the end of the first quarter. Kansai Garey was the team's main ball distributor during that time span, garnering three assists. Brian Robb was able to reach inside the net on two different shots during the first period as well.

After scoring the final goal in the first quarter, the second quarter was the Auyer show. The freshman scored three of the hounds' five scores in the quarter, contributing to an assists as well on another. Austin Barnett would total five saves as the Hounds' goalkeeper in the second quarter alone, his highest total in a single quarter on Saturday. After the Hounds reached the lucky number four in the third quarter (four goals by four different Greyhounds, assisted by four unique student-athletes), their 13-5 lead would hold the entire fourth quarter to start the early season with an official win streak. Barnett finished the game as the Hounds' goalkeeper with 14 saves, his ninth career game preventing 10 or more scores from opponents in a single contest.
