ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Looking to continue their hot start to the season, the UIndy men's soccer team (3-0-0, 3-0-0 GLVC) traveled out to Lewis University (1-3-0, 1-3-0 GLVC) for a game on Saturday afternoon.
Alejandro Steinwascher netted two of the three Greyhound goals in less than 90 seconds of action, pushing the Hounds past the Flyers on a final score of 3-1.
INS & OUTS
UIndy's only hiccup defensively was in the first 10 minutes of the contest, Lewis' Domenic Baumann scoring a goal on their only shot in the game. From then on, the Greyhounds applied the pressure the rest of the way, taking six shots alone in the half. The Hounds continued their pressure with those six shots from the corner as well, taking two kicks in the first half of action.
The Hounds' aggression paid off in minute 62',
Cole Rainwater finding the back of the net for the second game in a row to even the score. The sophomore found the opening threw a look from
Jeremy Fechtman, Fechtman receiving his first assist of the season on that play. After a quick foul on the Flyers, junior
Alejandro Steinwascher kicked it into high gear with two goals only 80 seconds between the two. The first came from
Kendall Allen from the back, the latter as a pass from the sophomore
Makel Rasheed. In total for the second half of action, the Hounds took an aggressive nine shots while holding Lewis to not even one attempt. The defensive stronghold gave goalkeeper
Dimitrios Karousos a light day, only letting one shot come the senior's way.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach John Higgins on the team's adversity despite being down early …
"It's always tough to get a road win in the GLVC, and lately we've done it in a convincing manner. It's the first time this season that the team has been a goal behind, and our mentality was great. We stayed patient, we kept to our game, and thankfully then we got our reward in a win."
Al Steinwascher on getting a pair of goals against the Flyers …
"We struggled to get shots [on goal] in the first half, but as the game went on we started the second half well and got way more opportunities. We bounced back after getting down, and my two goals were a great team effort. Forwards, midfielders, backline; we all did well, and it made a great result."
