#4 Men’s Soccer Wins GLVC Regular Season Title

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 4 UIndy men's soccer team (11-0-2, 11-0-2 GLVC) celebrated Senior Day with a convincing 4-0 shutout of visiting Lindenwood (3-10, 3-10) on Sunday afternoon. The victory not only secured the 2021 LVC regular season title but was also good for Head Coach John Higgins' 100th career conference victory.

Prior to kickoff, UIndy honored seniors Jack Berger, Ryan Callan, Kyle Kamminga, Ethan ManuszakJakub Olczyk  and Mathias Skjeseth for their work hard and dedication to the program.

INS & OUTS
Two Hounds had career games against Lindenwood - one dominating the first half and the other taking control in the second. Olczyk ended his final regular season game at Key Stadium on a high note, recording a career-high two assists in only one half of action. "Kuba" led the way for the only two Greyhound goals in that first half, first setting up a chip for Alejandro Steinwascher just inside the 8' mark of the contest. Olczyk also found Noah Yohannes on a cross in front of the goal, the Indianapolis native, Yohannes, was able to nail his first career score from his senior teammate to give the Hounds a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Kendall Allen moved into the second half to provide his best scoring performance yet, as the junior collected a pair of goals in the game's final 21 minutes. At the 70' mark, senior Mathias Skjeseth was able to see an opening for his teammate to slam in his second goal of the season. Skjeseth's pass netted his second career assist and the first of the season. Allen's second goal wasn't led by a pass, as the senior found his own opening and notched his first career multi-score performance.

Although the offense maintained the highlights in the box score, the Hounds' defense shut down the Lions for their eighth shutout of the season. Lindenwood only attempted five shots on goal the entire contest, with Dimitrios Karousos saving all five for another clean sheet. The Greyhounds were able to celebrate all their seniors honored with game time, as Berger, Callen, Kamminga and Manuszak all were able to step on the field for the regular season home finale.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- With the GLVC regular season title sealed away, the Hounds earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.
- The Greyhounds' four goals are the most scored since November of the 2019 season where they netted four against William Jewell.
- A win in their final game next week would be the first season in program history without a loss in the regular season.

UP NEXT
UIndy will put their skills to the final test this regular season on Friday, April 16, taking on a road contest against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. That contest in St. Louis will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, followed by the 2020-21 GLVC Championship Tournament on Monday, April 19.
