UIndy Honors Seniors, Dispatches Bearcats

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy football team (2-0, 2-0 GLVC) celebrated Senior Day with a convincing 51-23 victory against visiting McKendree Saturday evening. The result punches the Greyhounds' ticket to the first-ever GLVC Championship Game next weekend. UIndy will host Truman State University on Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. ET, with the winner earning the 2020-21 conference title.

Prior to the game, UIndy recognized its seven non-returning seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program. The group included Mitch Dewitt, Michael Graham, Evan Manley, Dan McHale, Cam Misner, Isaac Shaffer and Connor Steeb.

INS & OUT
UIndy found itself behind 16-7 midway through the second quarter, as the Bearcats scored in three of their first four drives. But it was all Hounds from that point, as the offense ran off four unanswered touchdowns and the defense limited McKendree to just seven points in the final 40 minutes of action.

UIndy would later seal the victory with three interceptions on each of the final three McKendree drives. Freshman cornerback Kasyus Kurns garnered two picks, followed by the final INT by Kiave' Guerrier.

Senior quarterback Bryce Stancombe had a stellar game statistically, finishing an efficient 23-for-28 passing for 325 yards and zero interceptions. Five different Greyhounds caught a touchdown pass, with both Kevin McNelis and Tyler Thomas corralling their first collegiate TD receptions.

The running game was also clicking as the Hounds racked up 231 yards on the ground, including 147 from Toriano Clinton. Defensively, Steeb led the way with a career-best 13 total tackles.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Senior Daveon Bell was yet another Hound with a big game Saturday, amassing 276 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown.
- Stancombe's total of five TD passes marked the highest by a Hounds since Jake Purichia's five against Notre Dame in 2017.
- Four different Hounds were credited with a sack.
- D-lineman Alec Patch blocked a Bearcat extra-point attempt in the second quarter.

MORE NOTES
The seven seniors honored prior to the game have helped the Hounds to three consecutive NCAA playoff appearances – a program first – and two GLVC Championships (to date) in the last four years. In McHale's unique case, the Hounds also earned a conference title and a playoff berth in his true freshman year in 2015.
