AUSTIN, Texas – University of Indianapolis soccer standout
Dana Youssef was named Tuesday to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The senior back garnered First Team laurels on the prestigious list, earning just the eighth Academic All-America® award in program history.
Selected based on her combined success in the classroom and on the pitch, Youssef graduated this spring with a perfect 4.0 GPA in Molecular Biology after earning GLVC Defensive Player of the Year honors. The Monchengladbach, Germany native and team captain led UIndy to a 11-4-1 record this spring on the way to the program's first GLVC semifinal appearance since 2009. She anchored a defense that allowed just nine goals in 16 matches this year, while netting a pair of game-winning goals of her own.
Youssef is the first UIndy women's soccer player to earn Academic All-America® honors since 2011 (Libby Anderl) and first first teamer since 2005 (Michelle Sovern).
