MARION, Ind – A Friday night trip to the Indiana Wesleyan University Cross Country Course was on the schedule for both UIndy men's and women's cross country. The race featured competition from all over the state, as 14 different schools brought teams for the men's and 16 for the women. UIndy, resting most of their upperclassmen, would take home eighth on the men's side and ninth for the women.
The men's 8k race featured the Greyhounds packing together, with the top four finishes for the team coming within seven positions.
Nico Barrett, making his 8k debut, was the leader of the Hounds with a 39th-place finish in 26:33.7. Just 10 seconds later,
Hayden Baldwin would cross the line in 41st with a time of 26:44.0.
Harnoor Dosanjh fell just milliseconds short of the sub-27-minute mark landing him in 51st with a 27:00.2.
Ben Nagel, making his debut this season, shook off the rust with a 56th-place finish.
Tyler Nolan finished four positions later with a time of 27:27.6 to wrap up the top 60 finishes in the field of 175. Rounding out the top five for the Hounds was
Jordan Parkinson (27:53.9) in 65th place.
Devon Whitaker (28:15.4) would finish in 68th to wrap up the top seven for the Hounds.
The women's 5k featured a great performance by
Eline Pinter, who with a 18:47.9 would capture eighth out of a field of 179. Just under a minute would go by before another Hound crossed the line, with Kelsey Tyler in 37th, crossing the line in 19:37.0. Not shortly after,
Hannah Wells (19:37.0) would finish her 5k in 40th place.
Barely missing the sub 20 minute with a time of 20:07.6 was
Gabrielle Harrell, finishing 53rd.
Kaylin Casner (20:23.8) kept the ball rolling for the squad with a 64th place finish. Rounding out the Hounds top seven finishes was
Trinity Gleitz (20:41.6) and
Kelsey Dugger (21:17.5) finishing in 73rd and 90th.
