Goals From Bollard, Rainwater Propel Men’s Soccer Past UMSL

INDIANAPOLIS - The first regular season match at Key Stadium was a success for the #2 ranked University of Indianapolis men's soccer team, who used goals from Dylan Bollard and Cole Rainwater to capture a 2-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in a GLVC showdown Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy controlled the pace of play on offense in the first half, out-shooting the Tritons by six. The aggression continued to show with the Greyhounds claiming six corner kicks compared to just one from UMSL. Despite the match riding as a stalemate into the halftime locker room, both teams collected prime opportunities to strike first on the scoreboard. Notably, the Tritons narrowly missed the opening goal of play on a shot that was deflected off the hands of goalkeeper Dimitrios Karousos in the 15th minute, while Michael Tselios had one of his shot attempts for the Hounds veer off the crossbar in the 22nd minute.

The second half was all UIndy with Bollard netting the first goal of the match in the 55th minute off an assist from Bryan Moreira. The Greyhounds held the one goal advantage for a large remaining portion of play when Rainwater put the game away by sending one into the back of the net in the 89th minute off an assist from Alejandro Steinwascher

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOUND BYTES
Head coach John Higgins and his final thoughts on the match...
"I thought it was 10 to 15 minutes after [we scored the first goal] that we could have put the game away, but credit to UMSL, they stuck around...thankfully Cole was able to put it away for us at the end".
