INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday night with a clean sweep of Tiffin University in non-conference action inside the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. JuniorÂ
Grace Hegwood paced the Hounds with 15 kills while redshirt juniorÂ
Alex Equihua dished out 29 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons tallied the first two points of the match but the Hounds scored six of the next seven to take a 6-3 lead. The run was capped off by a pair of service aces from
Gillian Santana. With a 22-20 lead, Hegwood recorded a pair of kills to give the Hounds set point. A ball handling error by the Dragons sealed the 25-20 win for UIndy.
UIndy held a 24-21 lead in the second set but three straight points from Tiffin forced extra points. Trailing 26-25, a kill from Hegwood evened the score at 26.Â
Hannah Sabotin gave the Hounds a one point advantage before
Lauren Cullison's kill sealed the 28-26 win.
Tiffin lead 12-10 in the final frame which was UIndy's largest deficit of the night. Sabotin halted Tiffin's momentum with a kill on the assist from
Alex Equihua. With the score knotted at 15, the Hounds scored 10 consecutive points to take the final set, 25-15.Â
Elizabeth Eads tabbed a trio of kills down the final stretch.

- Hegwood finished with 15 kills, falling two short of her career high that was previously set this weekend.
- The Hounds recorded six service aces with
MaKenna Barnhart,
Madi Rosenberger and
Gillian Santana each tallying two.
- Equihua dished out 29 assists and is currently averaged 9.6 per assist.

UIndy opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play at home on Thursday, hosting Truman State University at 5 pm in the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. The Hounds then hit the road on Saturday to take on Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, MO.
