Greyhounds Add Draw against Lewis

INDIANAPOLIS - In its first match as the new No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division II, the University of Indianapolis men's soccer team concluded play Friday night with a 1-1 draw against Lewis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at Key Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With its eyes set on an upset victory, Lewis came out of the gate and scored the match's first goal in just the ninth minute of action. The Flyers held steady with the one-goal advantage, taking it into the halftime locker room.

Not to be denied on its home turf, UIndy delivered the equalizer in the 49th minute when Dylan Bollard sent a ball past the goalkeeper into the back of the net on an assist from Michael Tselios. Despite a handful of opportunities to win the match, the Hounds could not make the leap into the win column and were forced to settle with a draw, which marks just the first this season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UIndy dominated the offensive tempo of the match, firing 20 total shots towards the net while Lewis had just nine.
- Keeping the pressure high on offense, the Greyhounds produced 10 corner kicks while the Flyers managed three.
- A total of 28 fouls were called in the match, with Lewis accumulating a game-high 18.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday, Oct. 1 on the road against Quincy.
