INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 19 UIndy football team (2-2) dropped a heartbreaker at Key Stadium Saturday afternoon, falling in double overtime to Ohio Dominican, 19-16. The Greyhound defense got a big stop in the first OT to extend the game, but later a 29-yard field goal from the visiting Panthers proved to be the difference.

INS & OUTS
Trailing by a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds authored an epic 21-play, 10-minute drive to tie it up with just over a minute left. UIndy marched 99 yards in the process, converting four third down plays – including two 3rd-and-8 situations –  along the way.
Â
The running back duo of
Toriano Clinton and
JaQuan Buchanan combined for 52 yards on the drive, but it was the final play of the series that was the most memorable. An offensive pass interference call nullified a would-be touchdown by
Ethan Hand, making it 4th and goal from the 18. But the Hounds made the improbable a reality when quarterback
Bryce Stancombe found a wide-open
Jon Eineman for the essential game-tying score.
Â
The drama continued for the Hounds, but they stepped up once again. ODU positioned itself for a game-winning 39-yard field goal with two seconds left, but defensive back
Trevon Hall swatted down the attempt to force OT.
Â
A Greyhounds offense came up empty on the first possession of overtime, but another missed field goal form ODU – this time wide left – gave the Hounds another shot. But after the Panthers chipped in three points to open the second OT, UIndy was unable to answer, sealing its second straight home loss.
