INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team saw a bright and sunny Sunday matchup end in a 1-nil victory against the visiting Truman Bulldogs for the Greyhounds first home conference victory of the season. With the win, the Greyhounds move to 3-3-4 on the season and 2-1-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Offensive pressure was the name of the game in the first half. This was exemplified by
Ella DeSmet, who at the 33-second mark of the contest sent a tough shot on net, which was saved by the Truman goalkeeper. That set the tone for the afternoon, as the Greyhounds racked up 13 shots - five on goal - throughout the first half. The backline, led by emerging defender
Ava Kettler, kept the Bulldogs quiet in the opening half, limiting them to just five shots, two of which where on goal.
Kiki Sauceda set the pace once again in the second half with a booming shot at the left corner of the goal, which was again saved by the Bulldog keeper. Truman held its composure in the second half and limited the Greyhound opportunities until a pass from Sauceda to
Maria Herrero put the hosts with just over five minutes remaining.
