INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 20 UIndy football team earned a hard-fought 52-38 victory against Quincy University Saturday night. The Greyhounds got a career night from running back
JaQuan Buchanan and a pair of late interceptions from the defense to hang on for the win.
Â
INS & OUTS
UIndy jumped on the Hawks early and often, building a 42-10 lead by halftime. But Quincy would not go quietly, as a big fourth quarter had the Hawks threatening to tie the ballgame late. Trailing 45-38 with six minutes to go, QU found itself in 1st & Goal from the seven-yard line.
Â
But it was then that UIndy safety
Michael Brown made perhaps the biggest play of the night, stepping in front of a Quincy pass and taking it 97 yards to other way to the house. The play was called back to midfield due to a penalty, but the interception stood.
Â
UIndy's offense needed just four plays to traverse 53 yards for a score, including a 50-yard gallop and a one-yard scoring tote, both by Buchanan.
Â
The Hawks would not cross midfield again, with a pick by
Kivonte Houston with two minutes to go good for the knockout blow.
Â
