INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 17 UIndy football team celebrated Halloween weekend with a 42-16 all-around win against visiting Missouri S&T Saturday night at Key Stadium. A number of Greyhounds had standout performances, highlighted by a four-touchdown night from
JaQuan Buchanan and three interceptions from the defense.
Â
The Hounds are a perfect 3-0 this season versus teams that beat them in '21.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first quarter from both teams, the Hounds piled on four touchdown drives before halftime, each punctuated by Buchanan. The Aurora, Ill., native punched it in from 10, 50, one and eight yards to become the first Greyhound to score four rushing touchdowns in a single quarter since at least 2002*.
Â
Meanwhile, the UIndy defense came up with three takeaways in the first half.
Kivonte Houston sandwiched a pair of picks around
KJ Roudebush's first career interception. The latter two came in Miner territory and led to quick scores.
Â
The UIndy pass rush played a big role in the Miner miscues. The Hounds combined for four quarterback sacks and two QB hurries on the night. Freshman
Justin Thomas was credited with a pair of sacks – the first of his collegiate career.
Â
Already leading 28-7 at the break, the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter saw
Christian Conkling find a streaking
Markez Gillam for a 67-yard strike. The Hounds' final points of the game came on a 15-yard touchdown catch from
Frank Bentley.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Buchanan scored four TDs for the second straight week.
-Houston is the second Greyhound in as many weeks to notch a two-interception game this season, as fellow-safety

-S&T running back Cameren Smith came into the night ranked 10th in DII at 7.3 yards per rush. He mustered 67 yards on 19 carries Saturday, good for a mere 3.5-yard average.
-The Miners twice earned 1st & Goal from the one-yard line in the second half but managed just three points between the two situations. The first such occurrence ended with a blocked field goal by
Brandon Thomas.
