Greyhounds Overcome Slow Start To Defeat Hillsdale

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team trailed 17-2 to begin the game on Wednesday night against Hillsdale and still came back to defeat the Chargers by a final of 68-53 at Nicoson Hall. The Hounds and head coach Marc Mitchell earn their first win of the 2022-23 campaign while Hillsdale drops its first contest of the new year.

Sadie Hill nearly matched her career-high in points tonight after dropping 23 on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Liv Becker (13) and Lauren With (12) each tallied double figures in the scoring column as well. Elana Wells dished out seven assists tonight to match her UIndy career high.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading 17-2 at the start, the Chargers controlled the pace of play early on in Indianapolis. However, UIndy answered right back with a massive 14-0 scoring run of its own to keep the game right within arm's reach. Not to be denied, the Chargers punched back with a 9-0 scoring outburst to take back control which eventually helped the team hold a small 31-29 halftime advantage.

UIndy came out of the break hot and completely shifted the momentum of the game. On a driving layup by Ilani Williams-Harris at the 7:01 mark in the third quarter, the Hounds jumped ahead 35-33 and earned their first lead in a game in their last eight quarters played. This layup was a small part of an 8-2 scoring run that played a huge role in the Greyhounds controlling the second half and the remainder of the game. Hillsdale was outscored by 17 in the final 20 minutes.
