QUINCY, Ill. – The UIndy women's basketball team (3-2, 1-0 GLVC) opened conference play on Saturday afternoon and grabbed a 60-57 win over Quincy (2-4, 0-1 GLVC) at the Pepsi Arena.
Kacilyn Krebs led UIndy in scoring with her 16 points after she caught fire from behind the arc on a 4-of-6 shooting performance from deep.
Sadie Hill produced another stellar outing with 15 points and 13 rebounds alongside three steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A defensive first quarter that saw just 16 total points scored between both teams had the Hounds holding an advantage of two points over the Hawks. UIndy had that lead extended up to six just before the half but back-to-back 3-pointers by Quincy right before the halftime buzzer saw the game sit as a 22-22 stalemate heading into the locker room.
Both teams were cold shooting the ball in the opening half, with the Hounds shooting just 24.1 percent (7-29) and the Hawks just 33.3 percent (9-27).
Quincy grabbed the lead midway through the third but a 10-0 scoring run by the Hounds weathered the storm and put UIndy back in the driver's seat for the time being. However, Quincy battled back and made the final quarter of play a back-and-forth game all the way to the final buzzer. With four seconds left and the Hounds up by two points,
Lauren With blocked a potential game-tying layup to help UIndy secure the road victory.
