KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Despite trailing by four points midway through the fourth quarter, the Truman women's basketball team (5-3, 2-0 GLVC) rolled out a bone-crushing 14-0 scoring run that ultimately played a key role in the team defeating UIndy (3-3, 1-1 GLVC) on Monday night at the Pershing Arena by a final of 86-75.
Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds raced out of the gate first and held a slim lead through most of the opening quarter. However, a 12-0 scoring run by the Bulldogs that spanned from the end of the first quarter and into the early portions of the next helped elevate the home team in front of its crowd. UIndy was able to battle back and trim into the deficit at hand but ultimately trailed by four heading into the halftime locker room.
Â
Truman led by as much as nine early in the third quarter and looked to put the nail in the coffin. However, the Greyhounds would answer and rattle off a game-changing 12-0 scoring run that completely shifted the momentum of the game. Because of this, both teams became locked in a back-and-forth battle as the contest neared its end.
Â
Unfortunately for UIndy, who had garnered a small advantage midway through the final quarter, Truman produced its devastating 14-0 scoring run that proved to be the catalyst in its winning effort over the Hounds.
