Good afternoon UIndy fans, there's a lot to be happy about in the Greyhound Nation and Around the Pound is your one stop shop for the good news. Visit us every Monday to hear about how the Hounds did!
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The UIndy men's basketball squad put itself back on the right path this week, picking up two road wins to improve to 8-2 on the year. The Hounds opened up on Tuesday with a foe that they hadn't faced in 26 years in Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn. UIndy was led by big man out Silver Springs, Md.,
Kendrick Tchoua dropping double digit points in his fifth straight game, resulting in a 68-59 dub. That was followed up by UIndy's third conference win of the season, with a 75-58 route of the Maryville Saints. Four Greyhounds saw double digits in points, with
Jesse Bingham leading the way with 18 of his own.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
It was a rough road stretch the Greyhounds women's basketball squad, falling to in-region foe Davenport by six.
Sadie Hill's 25-point-performance was not enough against the Maryville Saints on Sunday as the Greyhounds fell again by the skin of their teeth, losing 88-83.
TRACK & FIELD
Another weekend, another big track meet for the Hounds. They were split once again, with a group heading to Grand Valley State for the GVSU Big Meet, in which Emily Sonderman continued to shine, picking up a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter. Zoe Pentecost just a day later kept her reign of terror in the weight throw going, sending a winning mark and provisional throw of 20.10 meters, setting a new PR. For the jumps crew, Rebekah Mappes leapt her way to a new indoor PR and a winning mark of 5.25 meters in the long jump while her teammate Joanna Fields was right behind in second at 5.16 meters.
