INDIANAPOLIS – Both the University of Indianapolis women's basketball team and Missouri S&T came in with a 9-13 overall record, the last match up the Greyhounds walked away with the win, and on Thursday afternoon in Nicoson Hall the Miners were the ones who took the 70-65 win.
This brings the Greyhounds overall record to 9-14 and their conference record to 6-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds ended first quarter up 20-12 after a
Mya Scheidt three pointer secured the lead for the Hounds, however S&T answered quickly in the second quarter scoring 26 points to the Hounds 15, ending the half up on the Hounds 38-35.
After a nail-biting second half, the Hounds went on a offensive run in the last two minutes to shrink the Miners lead over the Hounds from eight to four. Then two back-to-back free throws was enough to put the game out of reach for the Hounds and securing the Miners win.
UIndy was led by
Mya Scheidt and
Marissa Knobloch who had 15 points each, Scheidt also contributed five assists. While
Taylor Drury scored 13 points and posted eight boards.
Ilani Williams-Harris continued to be a play maker for the Hounds with seven assists.
Alex Kerr was the top performer for the Miners who had 19 points and eight rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Missouri S&T made just three of its 21 attempts behind the arc, while the Hounds made seven.
-UIndy was out rebounded 37-27.
-The Hounds forced 11 turnovers and committed 17.

The Hounds will host its last home game of the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET where they will face off against No. 4 Drury.
