INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 3 UIndy men's lacrosse team continued their dominance on Saturday, posting a 16-8 win over Colorado State Pueblo in their first ever meeting. The south region win puts the Hounds at 7-0 on the year with Great Lakes Valley set to start next week.
With a pair of goals in the second half, Parker Johnson moved into second in the record books in career goals with 87. He surpassed Shawn Kimble (2016-19) at 85 and now only trails Parker Kump (2016-19) at 166.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the fifth time this season the Hounds found the back of the net first. Goals from Drew Billig, Wyatt Auyer and Easton Ong put UIndy ahead 3-0 midway through the first. The Thunderwolves got on the board with a man up goal with under five minutes remaining. Auyer ripped one home to beat the buzzer and give the Hounds a 4-1 lead after one.
Three straight Greyhound goals gave them a 7-1 lead in the second with Billig, Jake Zickel and James Whiteford each adding a goal. CSU Pueblo netted another man up goal but Auyer silenced them one minute later to give the Hounds an 8-2 lead at the break.
Zickel and Patrick O'Hara found the net 37 seconds apart before Auyer netted his third of the goal to build UIndy's lead to 11-2. Â The Thunderwolves scored three of the next four goals to make it 12-5 entering the final frame.
Parker Johnson opened the fourth quarter with his second goal of the game before two straight from CSU Pueblo cut the lead to 13-7 with 10 minutes remaining. The Hounds pulled away with goals from Auyer and Nick Rangaard that were 90 seconds apart. Jack Sullivan netted UIndy's 16th and final goal on the assist from Braydan Walker.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Austin Barnett earned his seventh win in net, making four saves and allowing two goals in 30 minutes. Sam Ripple closed out the second half, making four saves and allowing six goals.
- Auyer tabbed a career-high seven points off of five goals and two assists while adding one ground ball.
- Billig finished with four points off of two goals and two assists.
- Dougie Crawford and Sam Arfsten each caused a pair of turnovers.
- Caleb Parker was 14-for-17 on face-offs, adding nine ground balls.

The Hounds open GLVC play next week, traveling to Lindenwood University for a rematch of the 2021 GLVC title game. Â Faceoff is set for 2 pm ET on Saturday.
