Baseball Drops Two on the Road Against Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team traveled to Owensboro, Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon and dropped a non-conference twin bill with Kentucky Wesleyan at Panther Park. With both losses, the Hounds now sit at 7-13 overall on the season.

GAME 1 | KWC 8, UIndy 2 (7 innings)
The Greyhounds trailed by five runs after the opening inning of play but made a small bounce back in the second. A leadoff double by Armen Torosian opened the door for Aaron Blake to bring him home on an RBI single. A few batters later, Jared Bujdos would send Blake around to score on an RBI single of his own to cut the deficit down to three.

Despite this attempt from UIndy to claw back into the game, Kentucky Wesleyan would completely keep the Hounds off the scoreboard for five straight innings while also scoring lone runs in the fifth and sixth to keep a comfortable distance.

On offense, the Greyhounds out-hit the Wildcats at 8-7. Brandon DeWitt was a bright spot in the lineup after going a perfect 3-3 from the plate. On the mound, Jakob Hughes collected the start and went four complete with a pair of strikeouts. Derek Galdoni and Nolen Wolf each threw one complete from the bump to close out the contest.

GAME 2 | KWC 4, UIndy 1 (7 innings)
Kentucky Wesleyan jumped out ahead 4-0 through the first four innings before UIndy finally found the scoreboard in the fifth. Zack Williams collected a leadoff walk and quickly found his way to second base on a wild pitch. With Williams in scoring position, Caleb Vaughn stepped up and belted an RBI single to center field and brought Williams across the plate. This proved to be the only piece of run support the Greyhound offense could provide through the seven inning loss.

The Hounds managed just two hits in the game, both coming off the bats of Vaughn and DeWitt. Carter Nowak was the starter on the bump where he tossed 3-2/3 innings with four strikeouts. Chaney Morgan and Justyn Eichbaum both saw action out of the bullpen.

UP NEXT
The Hounds will continue their road trip with a four game conference series at Truman beginning on Friday.
