KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team fell 3-2 to Truman in extra innings in a low scoring conference clash on Friday afternoon in Kirksville. With the loss, the Hounds now sit at 7-14 overall on the season with a 2-3 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams played tremendous in the field through most of the game as a 0-0 stalemate occupied the scoreboard through seven and a half innings. Each squad had a couple of solid opportunities to break the tie, but neither could capitalize.

Finally, TSU scored two on a base hit in the bottom half of the eighth to take the first lead of the game. However, an RBI single by
Drew Donaldson and a clutch two out RBI single by pinch hitter
Aaron Blake in the ninth kept the game going.

The Bulldogs finally won the game in the 11th when the batter at the plate beat out a close throw to first base with two outs which scored the runner from third.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Greyhounds managed a game-high eight hits while Truman had seven.
-The duo of
Alex Vela and
Nathan Fish led the team with two hits apiece.
-UIndy threw five different pitchers in the loss.

RIVAS STRIKEOUT STREAK
Xavier Rivas was tabbed as the starter on the bump for the Hounds and dealt another impressive performance which included 10 strikeouts on four hits, five walks, and two earned runs given up in 110 pitches tossed. With his 10 Ks this afternoon, he has now thrown six straight games this season of double-digit strikeouts while bumping his season total up to 71 in 44 complete innings thrown.
