UIndy Tops Montevallo in South Region Action

MONTEVALLO, AL – The No. 3 University of Indianapolis men's lacrosse team picked up a regional win on Saturday, downing Montevallo 10-6 on the road.  The Hounds are 5-0 to start the season, tying the best start to a season since a 5-0 start in 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy opened the game with a pair of goals in the first five minutes with Parker Johnson and Evan Soucy netting unassisted goals.  The Falcons got one back a minute later but the Hounds exploded for four straight goals.  Reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Wyatt Auyer recorded three straight goals in a six-minute span with Johnson, Drew Billig and Jake Zickel each picking up an assist.  Patrick O'Hara capped off the run with his second goal of the season to give UIndy a 6-1 lead.

The two teams combined for three goals in the final two minutes of the first half, giving UIndy an 8-3 lead at the break.  Wyatt Auyer netted his fourth goal of the goal while Owain Braddock scored his fifth of the season.

Montevallo scored utilized a 3-0 run to make it a two-goal game with nine minutes remaining.  The Hounds were held scoreless for over 20 minutes of play, but Johnson ended the drought with his second goal of the game on the assist from Billig.  Zickel added an insurance goal less than a minute later to give UIndy the 10-6 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Auyer led the Hounds with four points off of four goals.
- Johnson finished with three points off of two goals and one assists while Zickel and Billig each tabbed a pair of points.
- Austin Barnett earned his fifth win of the season in net, making 10 saves and allowing six goals.
- UIndy was nearly perfect on clears, going 16-of-17 on the day.

The Hounds have two home games on tap next week.  They'll host Walsh on Tuesday at 4 pm ET followed by CSU Pueblo on Saturday at 12 pm ET.
