INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 3 UIndy men's lacrosse team put themselves in the record books on Tuesday, setting a program record for the best start to a season at 6-0. The Hounds picked up a 14-4 win over G-MAC foe Walsh University at Key Stadium.
The four goals also marks the fewest goals that UIndy has given up since posting a 17-4 win over Quincy last March. The Hounds also improve to 3-0 against Walsh all-time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy scored five goals in the first quarter after it took Wyatt Auyer less than ten minutes to record a hat trick. Parker Johnson and Matt Schoeneck also found the net before the Cavaliers got on the board with a man up goal.
The Hounds jumped out to a 12-1 lead after seven straight goals over the span of the second and third quarter. Johnson, Auyer, Schoeneck, Brian Robb and Drew Billig each scored in the run. UIndy's lock down defense held Walsh scoreless for over 33 minutes of play.
Braydan Walker tallied his first goal of the season three minutes into the fourth on the assist from Andrew Simonich. Less than five minutes later Simonich scored a goal of his own for the Hounds' 14th and final goal of the game.
