INDIANAPOLIS – A season-high 12 Greyhounds found the back of the net on Sunday as the No. 8 UIndy men's lacrosse team posted a 17-2 win over Quincy University in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Wyatt Auyer paced the Hounds with four goals while James Whiteford added three points.
The win puts UIndy at 11-1 on the year and 4-1 in GLVC play while extending their home win streak to 27 games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Face off specialist John Pickett wasted no time getting on the board after winning the opening face off and sprinting downfield to net his first career goal on senior day. Whiteford, Auyer and Nathan Lam each scored one goal in the opening frame to put the Hounds up 4-0.
Auyer and Ben Foster each netted a pair of goals in the second quarter while Parker Johnson added one of his own. UIndy's lockdown defense held the Hawks scoreless in the first half, marking the first time this season they've held an opponent scoreless in a half. In two meetings all-time, the Hawks have yet to score in the first half against the Hounds.
Auyer netted his fourth and final goal in the opening minute of the second half before the Hawks scored their first goal of the game. Drew Billig picked up a pair of assists in the third after helping Matt Schoeneck and Whiteford find the net.
The Hounds scored five goals in the final frame highlighted by Brendan Garry and Joey Bertrand each scoring their first career goal.
Austin Barnett picked up the win in net, making four saves in the first half and holding the Hawks scoreless. Jonathan Kelly made on save in 24 minutes while Karson Sutton closed out the final six.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Auyer finished with five points off of four goals and one assist. Whiteford tallied three points off two goals and one assist while Billig notched three assists.
- Kyle Basch caused a team-high four turnovers while grabbing four ground balls.
- Caleb Parker went 4-for-6 in the face off circle.

The Hounds hit the road for their final GLVC regular season game next week. They'll face Maryville at 3 pm on Saturday in St. Louis, MO.
