Balanced Effort Helps Greyhounds Collect Two Wins Over Kentucky Wesleyan

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis baseball team tallied a combined 24 hits, six home runs, and 16 strikeouts in a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Greyhound Park. With both wins, UIndy now sits at 15-17 overall on the season.

GAME 1 | UIndy 15, KWC 1
The Hounds raced out in front in the bottom half of the second inning after Denton Shepler crushed a solo home run over the right field wall. Shepler stepped up big again an inning later and brought in two more runs on an RBI single up the middle.

More runs came for UIndy in the fourth as the team crossed five on a strong inning from the plate. A Will Spear RBI single, Brandon DeWitt sacrifice fly, and Caleb Vaughn three-run home run helped give the Greyhounds a comfortable lead.

In the fifth, back-to-back solo homers from Jared Bujdos and Spear headlined another eventful inning of work. An inning later, KWC finally found the scoreboard but it didn't matter as UIndy scored five more runs to close the game in dominating fashion.

Carter Nowak picked up the win from the mound, going five complete while tossing five strikeouts on three hits and two walks given up. Cameron Ginter and Nolen Wolf each logged an inning of work.

GAME 2 | UIndy 11, KWC 7

Despite the early deficit, Kentucky Wesleyan climbed back into the game and took a one run lead in the fourth. However, Donaldson stepped up big again with an RBI double in the bottom half of the fifth to tie things back up.

KWC regained the lead in the sixth but UIndy delivered the knockout punch with six unanswered runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the twin bill sweep.
