Hounds Down Flyers in GLVC Semifinal

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 5 University of Indianapolis men's lacrosse team punched their ticket to their fourth consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference title game, downing the fourth-seed Lewis 16-11 on Friday night at Key Stadium.  Drew Billig paced the offense with seven points while Austin Barnett became the program's winningest goalie.

The Hounds improve to 4-0 all-time against the Flyers.  The five-goal victory is their largest margin of victory.

HOME SWEET KEY
UIndy is currently riding a 29 game win streak at Key Stadium, dating back to March 28, 2018.  The streak is not only the longest in program history, but is also the longest active home streak among all NCAA Divisions.

NEW KING IN NET
Barnett picked up his 33rd career win in net, becoming UIndy's all-time winningest goalie.  He surpasses Jarod Kimble who recorded 32 wins from 2016-19.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers controlled the first quarter, jumping out to a 3-1 lead.  James Whiteford tallied back-to-back goals in the final three minutes to even the score at three.

Parker Johnson netted his first of the game in the opening minute of the second to give the Hounds their first lead of the game.  Lewis responded two minutes later to knot the score once again at four.

UIndy's offense found their stride shortly thereafter, scoring four goals in a seven minute span.  Wyatt Auyer, Parker Johnson, Patrick O'Hara and Drew Billig each contributed to the run, giving UIndy a 8-4 lead at the break.

Jake Zickel opened the second half with his lone goal of the game to put the Hounds ahead by five.  The two teams traded five goals from there as UIndy took a 12-7 lead entering the final frame.

The first goal of the fourth belonged to Johnson but Lewis stormed back with four goals in four minutes to make it 13-11 with 8:19 remaining.  Andrew Simonich halted Lewis' momentum, netting a goal with just over six minutes remaining.  The Hounds defense locked down, holding the Flyers scoreless from there.  James Whiteford and Wyatt Auyer scored UIndy's final goals in the last three minutes.
