INDIANAPOLIS- Twelve combined runs between the seventh and eighth innings helped lift the University of Indianapolis baseball team to a 14-8 win over Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Park. With the win, UIndy, who has now won six of its last seven games, now sits at 13-15 overall with a 7-3 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds raced out to a one run lead in the opening inning on a
Denton Shepler RBI groundout. However, with the help of various errors and a clutch piece of hitting, the Miners added lone runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to gain control.
Â
An RBI groundout by
Caleb Vaughn in the bottom half of the fifth kept the Hounds within arm's reach. Despite this, S&T rolled out three runs through the sixth and seventh innings to stay out in front.
Â
However, the UIndy offense came alive in the bottom half of the seventh and eighth innings and produced a combined total of 12 runs to completely shift the momentum of the game. S&T went on to score two in the final inning but this wasn't nearly enough.
