ST. LOUIS  – With a new start time and game location, the University of Indianapolis baseball team had to adjust to a new plan for its second round game at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament against Quincy on Friday afternoon. Despite a hard fought battle, the Hounds fell 4-3 at the hands of the Hawks on the campus of Maryville University and are now just one loss away from bowing out of the tournament.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds corralled an early lead in the opening frame after scoring a run on an error by Quincy. Another would cross home a few batters later on a
Denton Shepler RBI single to right field.
Â
Despite the early deficit, the Hawks would successfully tie the game with lone runs in the second and fourth innings and eventually crossed the go-ahead in the sixth.
Â
Now trailing by a run, UIndy would tie the contest back up in the bottom half of the sixth when
Drew Donaldson landed an RBI single into right field to score the runner from third. However, Quincy grabbed the lead back in the next half inning with a lone run crossing and it proved to be the difference maker in the game.
