UIndy Ends Season in NCAA Championship Semifinals

ATLAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team's season has come to an end after the Hounds suffered a close lose to the University of Central Oklahoma on Friday afternoon.

The Greyhounds finish the season with a 21-3 record and will earned a NCAA Semifinalist honor.

The Hounds fall to the No. 4 Central Oklahoma after the Broncos kicked early in doubles, having secured their point in a 6-1 No. 1 position match. Sofia Sharonova and UCO Transfer Isabella Dunlap would take the lone doubles win with a 6-3 match.

UIndy was down 2-0 after the first match of singles concluded. It was then Lea Cakarevic and Arina Amaning who would fight back for the Hounds and tie the match at two, with Amaning taking a 6-2 6-3 win and Cakarevic taking a 6-4, 6-1 win.

However, it would be the Broncos who would advance to the NCAA Championship.

The Greyhounds retired leader and consistent player Kristina Lagoda, and swift, bright-eyed Maria Solnyshkina. The Hounds return No. 1 position and No. 31 nationally ranked Anna Novikova, along with key players such as Cakarevic, Amaning, and Dunlap.
