INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis baseball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Park in a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) doubleheader. With both losses, the Hounds now sit at 20-27 overall (11-11 GLVC).

GAME 1 | USI 7, UIndy 4
The Screaming Eagles grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth inning with a lone run on the scoreboard. However, UIndy answered with four in the bottom half to move the advantage in its favor. Two runs scored on a pair of errors while RBIs from
Brandon DeWitt and
Denton Shepler filled out the rest.

Despite the Greyhounds gaining the upper hand, USI scored six combined runs between the next two innings to eventually lock up the victory.

-UIndy managed a game-high nine hits while USI had four.
-Shepler and
Zack Williams paced the Greyhounds with two hits respectively.
-In total, eight errors between both teams occurred in the game.
-UIndy utilized six pitchers in the game while UIS tossed just two different arms.

Xavier Rivas earned the start on the bump and went four complete innings of work where he tallied five strikeouts. He is now at 117 total Ks on the season and is still chasing after legendary Bill Bright on the UIndy single-season strikeout leaderboard. Bright leads the way with his 148 strikeouts during the 1953 season.

Southern Indiana soared out ahead in the game after scoring lone runs in the first two innings of action. However, a
Drew Donaldson RBI single through the left side in the fourth would bring around two runs to tie the contest.

USI regained the lead after an RBI single was hit in the fifth and tacked on two more in the sixth to extend its advantage. Donaldson kept the Hounds in the game with his RBI single in the sixth but it ended up not being enough to close the gap in the end.

-Donaldson and
Caleb Vaughn led the Greyhounds with two hits at the dish respectively.
-The Hounds stranded three runners on base while the Screaming Eagles left eight.
