Greyhounds Sweep Saturday at IUP

INDIANA, Pa. – The UIndy volleyball team swept its way back into the win column on Saturday, knocking off Roberts Wesleyan and Frostburg State at the Crimson Hawk Classic held on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
 
The pair of victories were the first away from home this fall for the Hounds, who now sport a 7-4 record.
 
UIndy 3, Roberts Wesleyan 0
The Greyhounds bounced back against the Redhawks in the morning match, handling them in straight sets. UIndy totaled 65 digs as a unit, limiting Roberts Wesleyan to just .036 attacking. MaKenna Barnhart led the way defensively, finishing with 20 scoops.
 
Parlanti paced the offense, recording 11 kills on .588 attacking from the outside. Sara Spalding dished out 18 assists – along with her 10 scoops – while Alex Equihua chipped in nine digs and seven helpers.
 
The highlight of the morning was the team's opening set, as the Hounds allowed a paltry seven points to the Redhawks. Including its 6-for-7 sideout percentage in the first frame, UIndy went 29 for 44 in the category throughout the match.

Sabotin recorded double-digit kills for the third time this weekend, including the fifth instance this fall, with an 11-piece against the Bobcats. The junior middle attacked at a .429 clip, adding four digs and an assist in the sweep.
 
Another double-double was on tap for Spalding, who contributed five kills to her 16 dimes and 11 scoops. Barnhart paced the back line once again with 13 herself, while Grace Hegwood finished with 10 kills and 10 digs.
 
The UIndy defense held Frostburg to negative hitting in the first and third sets, blocking six Bobcat attacks and forcing 20 errors.

- Spalding now has four double-doubles in her rookie campaign, upping her totals to 5.83 assists/set and 1.95 digs/set.
- Sabotin tallied seven kills on .353 attacking in the first match against Roberts Wesleyan, finishing Saturday with 17 putaways.
- With 33 scoops on the day, Barnhart is now just five away from 1,500 in her Greyhound career.
- Equihua recorded 10 helpers and seven digs in the win over Frostburg.
