Clinton Breaks Rushing Mark; Hounds Edge Panthers

COLUMBUS, Ohio—The University of Indianapolis senior Toriano Clinton continued his assault on the program record book Saturday afternoon. The Chicago native surpassed the school's nine-year-old career rushing mark while leading the No. 16 Greyhounds to a 44-38 comeback win at non-conference Ohio Dominican.

Already the program's single-season rushing king, Clinton came into the night needing 41 yards to eclipse the career record. He blew past the mark with 179 yards versus the Panthers, upping his career total to 3,948.

The record breaker came on a 12-yard touchdown gallop late in the first quarter. The previous record was set in 2013 by All-American Klay Fietcher. Clinton's record-setting run also gave him 46 total career touchdowns, matching Fietcher at the top of the program annals.

INS & OUTS
The revenge tour continued for the Hounds, as Saturday's outcome made it two straight weeks of avenging 2021 losses. Seven days after earning a last-second win at Tiffin, UIndy did it again when Connor Kinnett found Alonzo Derrick in the end zone with 16 seconds with the go-ahead score.

The Greyhounds led by three touchdowns midway through the second quarter, but the lead slowly dwindled until the host Panthers finally earned their first lead with 2:42 to go, 38-37.

The remaining time proved more than sufficient for another UIndy comeback. The offense took the field and calmly marched 75 yards on the game-winning drive.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Derrick set career highs with 10 catches and 155 receiving yards.
- Freshman kicker Colin Seymour went a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts while connecting on all five extra points. His 14 points were good for the most by a GLVC kicker this season.
- Kinnett's stat line finished at 20-for-34 for a personal-best 289 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
- Safety Kivonte Houston had a nine total tackles to lead the Hounds for the second straight week.

UP NEXT
Homecoming is on tap as the Hounds will welcome Southwest Baptist to Key Stadium Saturday, Oct. 1. The contest also represents the GLVC opener for both teams.
