Dr. Sue Willey Court Dedication

INDIANAPOLIS – Dr. Sue Willey, former Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Indianapolis, joined another exclusive club as the institution officially dedicated its new athletics court in honor of the Greyhound legend.

The primary home of UIndy volleyball, the now Dr. Sue Willey Court honors Willey for her 45 years of service as a student-athlete, coach, and administrator with the university before her retirement in 2020. Willey, a 1975 graduate of UIndy – then known as Indiana Central College – earned a staggering 19 letters and 11 MVP awards during her time as a student-athlete. In addition to graduating cum laude, Willey won Female Athlete of the Year each year from 1972-75.

Willey coached 23 years on the south side across five sports. Starting the women's volleyball program in the fall of 1976, Willey collected 227 wins in 17 seasons as head coach, which ranks second in program history.

A pillar of college athletics throughout her career as an administrator and coach, Willey was named the 2012-13 Under Armour Division DII Athletic Director of the Year. UIndy also garnered a pair of team national championships, as the women's golf program topped DII in 2015 and 2018.
