UIndy Crashes Top 5 In Directors' Cup Final Winter Standings

CLEVELAND – Following another successful winter sports season, the University of Indianapolis vaulted into the top five in the latest Learfield Directors' Cup DII standings, released Thursday morning. The Greyhounds jumped 19 spots from the final fall standings to fifth overall.

The Directors' Cup honors institutions maintaining a broad-based athletics program, achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's, with points awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships. UIndy is one of only three Division II institutions in the country that can claim an active streak of 17 consecutive top-20 finishes in the final Cup standings.

Five winter programs contributed to UIndy's total, including both swimming & diving teams combining for 153.5 points. Additionally, men's indoor track set a program record record with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA DII Championships, good for 75 points, followed by a 24th-place finish by wrestling (70.5 pts) and a 29th-place showing by women's indoor track & field (43 points).

UIndy's current overall score of 488.5 points leads all GLVC schools, out-pacing McKendree's 359.5 points and 11th-place overall position. Grand Valley State (790.5) tops the Division II standings, with Colorado School of Mines (550 pts), Wingate (538.5) and Colorado Mesa (529.5) rounding out the top four.
