Athletics Admin Jake Berry Resigns, Accepts AD Position at Tennessee Wesleyan

INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis Deputy A.D. for External Operations and Revenue Generation Jake Berry announced his resignation Friday. Berry will stay on through the end of the calendar year before starting his new position as Vice President and Director of Athletics at Tennessee Wesleyan University.

"I am incredibly grateful and thankful for Jake's leadership, partnership, and countless contributions to the athletic department during his time at UIndy," said UIndy Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Kim Pate. "Jake is an extremely talented athletic administrator who genuinely cares about the student-athlete experience and making an impact. Tennessee Wesleyan is extremely fortunate to have Jake Berry leading the Bulldogs."

Berry helped significantly elevate UIndy Athletics in his short time on campus. Under his leadership since coming on in May of 2025, non-philanthropic revenue to UIndy Athletics increased by 31 percent while attendance saw a 47-percent increase. He spearheaded a number of new branding and engagement initiatives, including The Nic the Night basketball event, Southside Saturday community engagement day, and the rollout of the Loyal Hound beer.

During Berry's tenure, he restructured the external team and established the first Associate A.D. for Marketing role led by Heidi Heopner, which has helped drive fan attendance and increased the department's community-engagement efforts. He also elevated Cody Wainscott to head up the department's creative and digital media strategy, which has been instrumental in driving social media engagement and telling UIndy student-athlete stories in a more dynamic way.

Berry also oversaw athletic facilities, which underwent numerous upgrades including a renovation to the athletics weight room, enhanced sound system in Key Stadium, as well as new paint and branding in Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. Before he concludes his time at UIndy, he will oversee updates to the Wells Fargo team meeting space and the installation of a new dome for the Athletic Recreation Center.

Prior to his time as Deputy Athletic Director at UIndy, Berry served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University and Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations at Appalachian State University. Berry got his start in college athletics working at his alma mater, West Georgia. He will begin his new role as an Athletics Director on January 1.

"Our family has been extremely blessed to be a part of the Greyhounds and Indianapolis communities," said Berry. "Our time at UIndy, the administrative team I worked alongside, and the coaches and student-athletes we have served have provided some of the most impactful memories of my career. I am incredibly grateful to Kim Pate for trusting me with this role, her leadership, and her mentorship. Thank you to everyone who has made our time at UIndy unforgettable."
