Hounds Fall 2-1 to Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – In UIndy women's soccer's second straight road trip to Ohio, they fell to the Ashland University Eagles by a score of 2-1. The loss puts the Greyhounds at 1-2-1 on the season to this point.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was all Greyhounds with their first shot on goal coming in at the 5th minute mark, a bottom corner laser by Kiki Sauceda, saved by the Eagles. Kendall Ellis recorded another save in her freshman campaign 20 minutes later, keeping the score 0-0. UIndy didn't let that stand long, as a long booming free kick by Maddy Theis landed right to Elena Espinosa who chipped it to Maria Herrero for her third goal of the season and the first of the match. Ellis saved another shot with two minutes left in the half to send the teams into the locker rooms.

Eleven minutes into the second half the Eagles went on to tie the score with a goal by Georgia Nagucki. Ashland laid the pressure on thick, forcing four goal kicks from the Hounds in the next eight minutes of play. Stephanie Brady attempted to give UIndy the lead back with a shot on goal at the 68th. With just over ten minutes left on the clock the Eagles gave themselves their first lead of the content with a goal by Bailey Clark. UIndy fought for the final ten minutes, but to no avail, as the Eagles captured victory 2-1.
