Greyhounds Cap Regular Season with Win

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The UIndy volleyball team got back on track on Saturday, ending the regular season with a four-set victory at Illinois Springfield.

UIndy secured its third straight trip to the GLVC Championship Tournament last weekend and await confirmation of its opponent later this evening.

Claire Morris orchestrated an offense that attacked at a .300 clip with four players finishing with double-digit kills, including Hannah Sabotin's team-high 18. The redshirt-sophomore setter dished out 53 assists, adding six blocks and five digs in the win.

INS & OUTS
After UIndy surrendered five straight points to end the first set, it bounced back with three convincing game wins to close the regular season on a high note. The Hounds hit .354 in the second and third frames, committing just two attacking errors in the third to build their advantage.

Defense fueled the offense on Saturday, as the Greyhounds recorded 11 blocks and 72 digs over four sets. Grace Hegwood, who tacked on 13 kills in the offensive effort, also tallied 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the fall. The senior added a season-best three solo blocks in the win.

Hannah Sabotin led the attack once again against UIS, hitting an impressive .467 with 18 kills, her second-highest output this season. Fellow middle Elizabeth Eads chipped in seven kills, while assisting on five blocks.

INSIDE THE BOX
- The teams battled in the early going of each set, logging 24 ties and 10 lead changes over the course of the afternoon.
- Freshman libero Ellie Spang now has 418 digs this season, just 17 from the program's top five for rookies.
- With her 53 assists, Morris surpassed the century mark for the campaign and now has 1,013 helpers. The Perry Meridian prep is 14th all-time in assists and is 27 away from matching Maggie Gibson's two-season effort in 2015-16.
- Sophia Parlanti contributed her 10th double-double of the season in the win, finishing with 13 kills and 13 digs.
- Right-side hitter Lauren Cullison recorded double-digit kills for just the second time in the past 10 contests, hitting .318 against the Prairie Stars.
