Lyza Shamy and
Sarah Wegener are the UIndy women's soccer representation on this year's College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, which were released on Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible for nomination to the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must be a starter or an important reserve and have appeared in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. Academic All-District honoree advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

Maxson and Shamy both anchored the Greyhound defense all season, one that garnered five shutouts across the 17-game season. Maxson, majoring in Biology, ranked second among the Hounds in minutes, tabbing 1,471 on the year. Shamy, majoring in chemistry, spent an equally large amount of the time on the field, recording her first carer goal within the 2023 campaign.

Wegener, despite only playing in 15 games, led the UIndy offensive front, leading in both assists and goals. Wegener garnered her honor while majoring in business administration and management.Â
