Randgaard Nets Late Goal to Lift Hounds to Ranked Road Win

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Nick Randgaard netted a goal with 16 seconds left to lift the No. 7 UIndy men's lacrosse team (3-0) to a 17-16 victory at 11th-ranked Seton Hill (1-1) on Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds evened the all-time series, 3-3, picking up their second straight win in Greensburg.

Drew Billig and Triston Schaffer tallied a game-best five points, the latter of whom led all players with five goals. Defensively, Josh Jackson finished with six ground balls and three caused turnovers.

INS & OUTS
The Hounds needed a big second half to pull off the ranked road win, trailing by a pair of scores at halftime. Five different Hounds scored in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Griffins, 5-3, in the final 11 minutes of action. Randgaard capped the scoring run, of course, with Wyatt Auyer and Ben Foster joining Billig and Schaffer on the fun.

UIndy came out firing to start the contest, with Randgaard scoring the first goal for the Hounds. Schaffer finished the half with a hat trick, scoring three of his five in the first 30 minutes.

The Greyhound defense came to play, causing 11 of Seton Hill's 22 turnovers. They were nearly perfect on the clear, as well, going 20-for-22 on attempts.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Netminder Jonathan Kelly made five of his six saves in the first half.
- Auyer and Jackson each tallied three caused turnovers in the win.
- Billig is now just three points from tying Parker Kump's program record of 210.
- Caleb Parker secured 13 faceoff wins on Saturday, scooping up three ground balls.
- Defensive duo Kyle Bach and Evan Soucy each tallied three ground balls.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Greg Stocks on the win…
"It's always tough to go on the road and pick up a win against a ranked opponent. The guys exexcuted at both ends in crunch time with the game on the line."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return home next Saturday, Feb. 25, for a 12 p.m. battle with former GLVC-foe Montevallo.
