Second-Half Splurge Lifts Hounds to Sixth Straight Win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The No. 4 UIndy men's lacrosse team (10-1, 4-0 GLVC) dominated on Saturday, earning a 15-6 victory at Rockhurst (7-4, 2-1 GLVC) to earn at least a share of the GLVC regular-season title.
 
Jonathan Kelly impressed in his second start of the spring, making 12 saves between the pipes. Meanwhile, Wyatt Auyer led nine Greyhound scorers with a game-high four goals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds outscored the Hawks, 10-3, in the final 30 minutes, scoring five times in each of the third and fourth quarters. Auyer cashed a hat trick in the third quarter alone, including a goal in the first 16 seconds of the second half.
 
UIndy controlled the specialty areas throughout the contest, with Caleb Parker winning 17 faceoffs with six ground balls. Overall, the Greyhounds scooped up 40 loose balls compared to the Hawks' 28, while the visitors caused 11 of Rochurst's 20 turnovers.
 
Beau Howard netted his seventh goal of the season, scoring with under five minutes left in the first quarter to put UIndy up for good. Overall, nine Hounds recorded goals in the win, including Kyle Basch, who also finished with six ground balls.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Josh Jackson and Evan Soucy led the defensive domination on Saturday, combining for 11 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
- Auyer has now scored four or more goals in six games this spring.
- Five of the Greyhound goals were assisted, with Nick Randgaard leading the team with a pair of helpers.
- Mikey Cinquina added four scoops off the bench.
- A part of three goals across three different quarters was Drew Billig, who recording two goals and one assist.
 
MORE NOTES
UIndy remains undefeated on the road this spring, improving to 6-0 as the visiting team … the Greyhounds have now won six of the last seven games against the Hawks.
 
UP NEXT
The fourth-ranked Hounds have a tough test ahead as they visit No. 5 Wingate next Saturday at 12 p.m.
